Thought-provoking, Interactive Sessions

Clinical Trial Supply Nordics 2016 had a host of interactive sessions based on providing delegates from companies of all-sizes practical take-aways to aid them in improving the efficiency of their local and global clinical supply chains.

On the afternoon of Day 1, delegates discussed aligning manufacturing timelines with CMOs to ensure that deadlines are met and your contracted partner is solution-orientated when delays arise. Clinical manufacturing emerged as a key concern for this year’s delegates and, with many companies now outsourcing their manufacturing processes, this roundtable enabled participants to brainstorm innovative solutions to timeline issues. Roundtable 2 was led by Thomas Knudsen, Outsourcing and Contracts Manager from H. Lundbeck A/S, who discussed the challenges of IMP destruction when working with clinical CROs. As always, an important part of waste reduction is the clinical cold chain. In keeping with this, the third roundtable debated how best to maintain temperature of IMP from facility to site to prevent product expiration.

Throughout the conference, delegates had the opportunity to submit their questions to the Danish Medicines Agency and on Day 2 these questions were addressed during the Q&A session with Mette Bjorn, a medicines inspector with expertise in GMP specifically. This session brought to light new knowledge as well as debate and discussion amongst the audience members.

Day 2 was rounded off by another three roundtables and a panel discussion which explored how to increase interdepartmental communication and establishing the benefits of how these strategies can increase clinical supply chain efficiency. Representatives from GSK, Zealand Pharma and Novo Nordisk gave their perspective on what best practices were when dealing with various moving parts within the clinical supply chain.

The 2016 Clinical Trial Supply Nordics conference was a thought-provoking, interactive meeting which enabled delegates to debate challenges, discover innovations in clinical supply and discuss potential solutions to improve efficiency across the clinical supply chain.
