Bankinter

Bankinter was founded in 1965 as a Spanish industrial bank through a joint venture by Banco de Santander and Bank of America. It was listed on the Madrid stock exchange in 1972, at which time the bank became fully independent of its founders and transformed itself into a commercial bank.

Internet is the channel which, to the largest extent, has transformed the bank. Bankinter first went online in 1996, and in 1997 the Bank website already offered its customers the possibility of accessing their accounts and performing financial transactions with complete security. In that same year, Bankinter pioneered the offering of real-time stock market operations. Today, more than twelve years later, its two services, Bankinter.com and Bankinter broker, continue to be undisputed leaders in online financial operations.

New remote channels such as mobile banking and the video call service have been finding their place among customers normal operations in recent years. In both cases, Bankinter was once again a pioneer in Europe in establishing secure financial channels using these communication technologies, which enable a fast and efficient relationship with customers that is available 24 hours a day anywhere, and already accounts for 55% of all the Bank transactions.
