Natural is the way forward!

In the past decade, technological advances have shortened the distance between information and the everyday consumer. This alteration has led to a huge amount of information circulating on the World Wide Web, where consumers can gain access and educate themselves in various topics. One of which is the consequences derived from high sugar consumption and non natural content in everyday food and beverages. Consequently, consumers have become more knowledgeable and are now demanding for natural ingredients in various food and beverage products; creating a tremendous challenge for beverage companies to reformulate products in order to fulfil this new preference.

Consumers are now focusing their purchasing priority on natural ingredients and health labels over cost, as the true price of unhealthy and unnatural products could lead to health problems. This changing landscape is affecting global consumer markets and is demanding more innovation in the beverage sector than ever before. Already we have seen brands introduce ‘diet’ and ‘zero’ products to satisfy the ever changing consumer.  However this natural wave has created obstacles for companies and many are searching for sugar alternative replacements such as fruit skin to meet the demanding consumer.

Another key consideration for consumers is caffeine levels, with consumers looking for less harmful functional drinks, it is important to be aware of the clean label challenge and to search for ways to reduce artificial caffeine by utilising natural sources to fulfil such need. Furthermore, with regulations on the verge to be implemented by the European Food Authority, it is essential to look now and stay ahead of competitors.

At this year’s conference, you will have the chance to hear various case studies including the clean label challenge from top beverage companies such as: PepsiCo, Coca Cola, Nestle, RedBull and more.
