Defining the best outsourcing strategy for medical devices

While outsourcing is not a new phenomenon, it has clear benefits for the medical device industry. Medical devices are under constant pressure to control costs without sacrificing quality research, timelines or safety. Outsourcing not only it saves resources and reduces operating costs, but also gives an opportunity to focus on core activities. The question is how to develop the most successful outsourcing strategy to meet the demands of your company’s resources?

Firstly medical device companies need to understand the actual value that potential outsourcing could bring to their company. In the 2018 OCT West Coast: Medical Device Stream, we will be considering your needs and in-house capabilities to develop a fit-purpose trial strategy. Taraneh Farazi (Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Gynesonics) will address how you can find the right balance between outsourcing and utilizing your in-house resources to make your trial more efficient. You will be able to consider and discuss different models of outsourcing to decide which model offers the most value to your trial.

Vendor management and relationships is a huge pain point for the medical device industry. Outsourcing strategies only work if you can develop a strong relationship with your vendor and have the resources available to effectively manage them. On the 2018 agenda we will have an interview-type session on stage with our chair asking Judy Skroback (Director of Clinical Research at SynCardia Systems) a number of in-depth questions regarding the best approaches to vendor management, from the perspective of a small medical device company. This session will allow the audience to listen to and participate in a discussion, putting forward their thoughts and challenges with managing vendors.

Join us in February 2018 to learn about the best outsourcing strategies from a number of industry experts. Our Medical Device Stream agenda is jam packed with case studies and interactive sessions, followed by roundtable discussions at the end of the day. Don’t miss out!
