Post conference Site Visit to KPE Tunnel (Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway) 9:30 - 12:30

The Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway is the latest addition to Singapore’s network of expressways. Stretching twelve kilometres, the KPE lies along the North East Corridor of the island, providing a strategic link between the sub urban districts in the area and the city centre. Costing 1.7 billion Sing dollars, the KPE is the first expressway in Singapore to have its own dedicated operations control centre, this is mainly due to the fact that such a long stretch of the expressway (nine kilometres) is underground. Operating a long road tunnel is no easy task, and the KPE team boasts a team of experienced professionals supported by a wide array of systems to ensure that it is managed safely and effectively.

The site visit will be led by the LTA and will provide you with an overview of how daily operations are managed in KPE, as well as insights into how the LTA deals with incidents.
