Darren Hart – Speaker

Vice President, Clinical Operations and Biometrics, Elan Pharmaceuticals

Darren Hart is the Global Head and Vice President of Clinical Operations at Élan Pharmaceuticals. His primary responsibilities include leading the overall operational activities for the Clinical Development organization at Élan, including clinical trail execution, data management, biostatistics, statistical programing, program management, vendor management and outsourcing.

Darren has extensive experience in clinical trial implementation from both the sponsor and the CRO perspective.   He started his career in industry at PPD where he served in clinical operations positions of increasing responsibility for nearly 12 years.  In 2006, he took a position at Genentech, Inc. as Director of their Development Outsourcing and Contract group.  He continued in that role until the merger of Genentech, Inc. and Roche.  Subsequent to the merger, Darren continued with the new organization as the Global Head of Service Provider Management and the South San Francisco Site Head of the Product Development Outsourcing and Contracts group.  He continued in those roles until he moved to Élan. 

Prior to working in drug development, Darren practiced as both a Registered Professional Nurse and an Attorney.  He holds an active Professional Nursing License in the State of Missouri and an active Law License in the State of North Carolina.  Darren received his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, in Edwardsville, Illinois and his Juris Doctorate from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri.
