Glenn Barklie

Biography: Glenn Barklie is chief economist at Investment Monitor and head of FDI services at Global Data Media. He was previously with Financial Times, where he was the head of benchmarking services for fDi Intelligence. With almost 15 years’ experience in FDI and economic development, he has worked with many government agencies and corporates, specialising in location benchmarking, rankings and investment trends as well as managing FDI databases.

Courtney Fingar

Biography: Courtney Fingar is editor-in-chief of Investment Monitor and a widely known commentator on international investment trends. She oversaw the launch of the publication in September 2020 after joining from the Financial Times. Her 20-year career in business journalism includes running the FT’s fDi Magazine and serving as head of content for its associated data division fDi Intelligence. She has covered business stories in more than 80 countries and she is a popular moderator and keynote speaker at economic and investment events worldwide and has appeared on television and radio in dozens of countries.

Biography: Ruth Strachan is a senior reporter at Investment Monitor, focusing on manufacturing, mining and commodities. She joined from the Financial Times, where she worked as a content editor in the events division FT Live. In this role she wrote content for various global events across a number of topics including FDI, technology, C-suite roles and compliance. Before this, she was a journalist at DC Thomson.

Biography: Jon Whiteaker is a senior editor at Investment Monitor focusing on FDI in the energy sector. He is also Middle East and Africa editor. He joined from Euromoney Institutional Investor. He has been a business and finance journalist for more than a decade, five of which he spent as the editor of IJGlobal – a leading news and data title covering energy and infrastructure finance. Jon has reported on transactions and investment trends across all continents and is an experienced leader and participant in industry events.

Biography: Ian Wright leads the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) - the representative voice for companies and trade associations across food and drink. Before joining FDF in March 2015 he spent 14 years with Diageo plc - the world's largest drinks business. There he was the member of the executive committee responsible for the company’s reputation as it became one of the world's most trusted and respected companies. Earlier, he worked for Boots The Chemist and Mars Confectionery and had spells in consultancy and politics. He chairs the Food & Drink Sector Council - the Government’s industry advisory body. He also chairs the Food & Drink Trade Association Round Table. Ian received a CBE for political and public service in August 2015.

Dr Ian Robertson
Industry Expert; formerly Member of the Board, BMW AG,
Biography: Since March 2008, Ian Robertson has been a member of the BMW AG Board responsible for Global Sales and Marketing. From January 2018 he has been responsible for UK Government relations with the specific focus on the Brexit discussions. He reached retirement age from BMW end of June 2018. Ian was born in Oswestry, Shropshire (UK) and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Maritime Studies from the University of Wales, Cardiff. He started his career in the automotive industry as a Graduate Trainee with the Rover Group in Great Britain in 1979 and has been working in a variety of positions in the car industry ever since. From 1988 he held various senior management roles at the Rover Group, including Purchasing Director, before being promoted to Managing Director of Land Rover Vehicles in 1994. He served as Managing Director at BMW South Africa from 1999 to 2005 before becoming the Chairman and Chief Executive for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd in 2005 and he remained chairman until 2012.”

Sam Roscoe
Fellow of the UK Trade Policy Observatory,University of Sussex Business School
Biography: Dr. Roscoe is an Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management and a fellow of the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO) at the University of Sussex Business School. Dr. Roscoe’s research interests are in how innovative technologies (Additive Manufacturing, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence) are transforming global supply chains. Sam was invited to give evidence to the UK government’s International Trade Select Committee on Pharmaceutical Supply Chains and Covid 19. His recommendation for establishing “parallel supply chains” for the manufacture of critical goods in the UK, as well as non-critical commodity items in Asia, was put forward by the Select Committee to UK government policy makers. His research on Covid 19 and the disruption caused to global supply chains has been featured in the Financial Times, the Guardian, Raconteur Magazine, and the BBC evening news

Jillian MacBryde
Professor of Innovation and Operations Management,University of Strathclyde
Biography: Jill MacBryde is Professor of Innovation and Operations Management at Strathclyde University. She is also Co-Director of the ESRC funded Made Smarter Network Plus. Jill is recognised for her work in the fields of manufacturing, innovation, performance measurement and business improvement. And is known for working across disciplines and particularly bridging the link between technology and social science. As well as working with the ISCF Made Smarter Innovation team, Jill is principal investigator on an ESRC funded project, investigating the impact that the Covid-19 crisis has had on UK manufacturing and to identify priorities for renewal through innovation. She collaborates with colleagues in the National Manufacturing Institute, Scotland on this project, and is currently developing scenarios for Manufacturing in Scotland, 2036. Jill is an active member of the Innovation UK/ESRC Innovation Caucus and sits on the advisory board for Future Flight.

She is responsible for the production and coordination of Fitch Solutions’ auto industry content across the global analyst team.
