The coronavirus lockdown is hastening on-line automation in the mining industry to help process control systems at remote mines, with operators often far away. This trend will drive down costs quicker, leading to smaller, cleaner mines where more can be done with fewer people. As part of this trend, Real Time Instrument’s onbelt analysers measure the composition of the ore every minute. The analyser’s results are calculated in the onboard computer, which is connected to the plant SCADA system. The results can be displayed in tables, charts etc, there can be alarms and alerts set on the basis of the results, which are often then fed to a program managing automatic sorting or blending of feeders. All results can be stored in the cloud for retrieval by operators from any location. For more information, please contact Real Time Instrument’s Regional Sales Manager, Mr Michael Edwards, email@example.com.
