Phil McLachlan
Chief Executive Officer, Digital Content Analysis Technology Ltd

Phil is the CEO and co-founder of Glasgow based D-CAT, which assists businesses worldwide to meet sustainability and climate change compliance challenges by providing digital monitoring, reporting and verification data services derived from satellite remote sensing data. Phil has over thirty years’ leadership experience across aerospace, defence, and high technology industries.  Prior to co-founding D-CAT, Phil held senior leadership positions at Accenture and QinetiQ. The first half of his career was in the Royal Air Force where he served in several operational and MOD staff roles specialising in ground to air missile systems, radar, air defence command and control and the UK MOD’s Digitisation Strategy.  He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Prof Iain Woodhouse
Professor of Applied Earth Observation, Edinburgh University/ Co-founder, Earth Blox

Iain Woodhouse is an innovator, strategist and remote sensing expert. He has been a Professor of Applied Earth Observation at Edinburgh University for over 20 years and specialises in research on the use of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and LiDAR  for monitoring the forests of the world. This contributes to sustainable forest stewardship and sustainable (managed) forestry.

Prof. Woodhouse has been Chair of a the UK Space Agency Earth Observation Advisory Committee and a member of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Capacity Building Working Group.

As well as being an academic, Iain has been involved in setting up three startups in the energising Edinburgh innovation ecosystem. He is Co-founder of Earth Blox, which provides climate and nature analytics from satellite imagery to help businesses accelerate their sustainability transition. The software maps and analyses key metrics for biodiversity, water and carbon across forestry, agriculture, and financed and insured assets worldwide.

Iain believes that the key to his success is a good sense of strategy and an ability to draw together excellent teams who are able to excel in innovation. He has over 27 years of experience in academia and industry, 100+ publications, and advises UK government agencies on earth observation strategy.
