David Bicknell has over 30 years’ experience in writing about and analysing the technology sector, both from the vendor and the user perspective, both in the UK and the US. His career in technology journalism and analysis has included detailed research into IT projects and he has co-authored a book, ‘Crash’, which explored why and how IT projects go wrong. He has also co-authored a novel on the life of computer pioneer Charles Babbage. Prior to joining Thematic Research, David spent six years editing a GlobalData title exploring the use of technology in the UK public sector. Matthew Proctor

Matthew joined Coutts in 2017, and is currently Associate Director, Strategic Programmes for the NatWest Group Wealth franchise. Matt supports the group's corporate development, strategic execution and AUM growth priorities across the Coutts, NatWest Premier and Royal Bank Premier brand suite. In September 2022, he joined the NatWest Group Colleague Advisory Panel (CAP), representing the Wealth Businesses. The CAP engages directly with the NatWest plc Board, empowering colleague voice in the boardroom, and providing input into a range of strategic initiatives. Since November 2022 he has also sat on the PIMFA Under 40 Leadership Committee.

Prior to this, Matt covered the GCC, Levant, and Asia wealth management business for Coutts' International division. Principally delivering wealth and investment management solutions to high net worth clients and their families, Matt also supported the development of the International and Family Office strategy.

Matt is a graduate of Durham University where he read Economics with Management. His studies ranged from the analysis of individual markets to global economies, along with those in management theory and business. His dissertation explored the role of the Capital Asset Pricing Model in emerging economies' equity markets. In addition to studies for his degree, Matt was elected Co-President of Durham Finance Society, and sat on the Students' Union Committee for Teaching and Learning. He also rowed for Grey College Boat Club (where he served as treasurer) and served as finance director for Durham Economics.

His interests include music, where he holds the ATCL diploma from the Trinity College London in Music Performance, long-distance running, skiing and travel
