After gaining a degree in Politics, Alex began working in Rural Regeneration and later Strategic Planning for a District Council before spending a number of years helping farmers to access Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) funds – in that time gaining grant funding for everything from milk processing equipment to an elephant enclosure! Since taking up a role with the NFU in 2011 Alex has worked across the whole agricultural spectrum, principally in the South West region with standout areas of work including flooding support on the Somerset Levels, coordinating EU Referendum and General Election activity, aiding NFU members through various incarnations of the Common Agricultural Policy and leading on lobbying and stakeholder engagement. In April 2024 Alex took up the national NFU role of Chief Sustainable Supply Chains Adviser.

Estelle Herszenhorn is Head of Food System Transformation and is responsible for leading WRAP’s global work on reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) impact of food, reducing food waste and increasing sustainable water management – including through our world-leading voluntary agreements.

Estelle is a sustainability and circular economy impact-focussed leader, with over two decades of applied experience - collaborating with businesses, government and other organisations to secure change and impact.

Estelle has worked with many sectors, including construction, and, for the last 12 years, food and drink. Estelle has worked on food waste prevention from farm to fork, led groundbreaking research and is developing our exciting new work on climate and water action – leading a team of programme and technical experts.

Estelle has a BSc (hons) in Environmental Science from the University of Southampton and a Circular Economy, Enterprise and Innovation MBA and is a member of IEMA

Outside of work, Estelle is accountable to her two small children - who share her sustainability goals as well as her interests in science, art and the natural world.

Tristan is the green energy expert and visionary behind Fischer Farms. With over 20-years of experience in the renewable energy sector, he is leading the way in sustainable food production.

Throughout his career, Tristan has been involved in several large-scale clean energy infrastructure projects and has worked with some of the world’s leading companies, including as Citigroup and Shell Renewables. He has also supported some of the most promising SMEs, including Camco, University of Leeds spin-out C-Capture, and Lumicity.

With a vision of transforming the future of farming through the latest vertical farming innovations, pioneering tech, and solar power, Tristan is set to achieve his ambition of delivering a scalable and more sustainable food production industry within the next decade.

Tristan was a guest contributor to BBC Radio Norfolk’s programme ‘Could vertical Farming help feed the world?’ and has been invited to represent the vertical farm sector at the 2024 Farm to Fork Showcase at 10 Downing Street and earlier this year  featured on Sky News with Ed Conway, Could this be the future of farming?

Chris Shearlock works as Ambient Sustainability Director for Thai Union covering multiple brands and private label customer requirements around the world. He has worked in food sustainability for nearly 20 years having held positions with UK retailers and food manufacturers before specialising in fish. He holds a degree in Environmental Management and a Masters degree in Strategic Marketing, is a full member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and a Chartered Environmentalist.

Rebecca Lovelady, Positive Impact Operations Communications & Engagement Manager has worked at Danone for 9 years in sustainability roles in the local UK & Ireland business and now globally leading engagement and communications for the operational sustainability programs across Danone’s 150+ factories and global supply chain: the Re-Fuel energy excellence and decarbonisation program driving scope 1 & 2 emissions reduction alongside the Battle Against Waste food waste reduction and valorisation program.

Pete provides direction and leadership for the Food Systems Institute (FSI), an interdisciplinary translational research institute, focused on making our food system more sustainable, equitable, and nutritious. It has four interdisciplinary research centres, focused on Sustainable Agricultural Systems, Future Proteins, Food Innovation, and Food Policy and Foresight. Pete has a decade of experience of working at the interface of academia and industry and has led the Food Innovation Centre since 2023.

Colin has worked in product development at Ecotone UK for over 15 years. True to the company’s mission to support Food for Biodiversity, Colin’s role is to work with natural, plant-based ingredients to create foods that are better for the health of people and the planet.

Under the Kallø brand at Ecotone, Colin has been at the forefront of plant-based innovations including the development of the brand’s Veggie Cakes, made with peas and lentils, Veggie Thins, made with chickpeas, and new Oat Cakes.

Last year he was invited to parliament with the Food & Drink Federation to speak directly to policy makers on the challenges of reducing fat, salt and sugar whilst increasing key nutrients such as fibre and protein.

He’s committed to finding food solutions that work in harmony with nature, not against it.

Camilla is an experienced sustainability professional with international experience working in sustainable agriculture in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Having grown up on a sheep and beef farm in rural New Zealand she is particularly passionate about ensuring a just transition for farmers. She has a strong record of driving organisational change and collaborating across the value chain to deliver progress on sustainability. She currently leads the sustainability agenda for Arla Foods in the United Kingdom as Head of Sustainability.

Experience: I have worked in Food and Drink supply chains for 15 years, covering various roles in procurement and supply with an increasing focus on sustainability. ESG has always been a big focus through my career, from starting out making delicious organic baby food at Ella's Kitchen, to helping Mars Drinks reduce the impact of their aluminum foil and paper cups, to more recently leading functions at B CORPs. My current role as Supply Chain & Sustainability Director at Pip & Nut offers me the privilege to bring together two intrinsically linked functions to drive the business towards our ambitious ESG goals, which include our Net Zero commitments.

Emma has spent the last four years working to advance sustainable food systems. She is currently working at Huel, helping to deliver their mission of improving the health of people and the planet through complete and convenient nutrition. 

Tom Maidment is currently Group Product Sustainability Senior Manager at Hilton Food Group, leading the company’s response to the climate and nature crises. Before that he worked at Jaguar Land Rover, where he developed the company’s net zero strategy and founded E.Mission, a business improving the public’s understanding of the carbon footprint of food. In 2024 he also led the UK’s Youth Delegation to the G20 and is an associate at Oxford Net Zero.

Dan holds over 10 years’ industry experience, specifically within the manufacturing sector and as a well-known industry commentator, he works with clients to advise and guide them in the development of energy and carbon management strategies. Further supporting businesses in reducing costs, consumption, and emissions at a time of increasing internal and external pressures.

Andreas Saracevas is a leader in refrigeration engineering, specializing in high-efficiency systems that drive sustainability and performance. At Mayekawa, he spearheads natural refrigerant adoption, optimizing systems that cut energy costs and future-proof industrial cooling.

With deep expertise in system design, optimization, and business strategy, Andreas helps businesses transition from outdated cooling methods to dependable, low-GWP solutions. A strong advocate for natural refrigerants, he works with industry leaders to accelerate technology adoption and regulatory alignment—not just adapting to change but driving it.

Dan McGlynn is a Senior Account Executive at TraceGains, bringing over 20 years of senior commercial experience within the FMCG and foodservice sectors. Dan has been a driving force in helping some of the largest grocery retail, manufacturing, and agricultural companies in the region navigate the complex challenges of supply chain digitalisation, compliance, NPD and sustainability. In his role at TraceGains Dan is at the forefront of reshaping how data is shared across the supply chain. By leveraging the TraceGains Network, he is pioneering new methods to improve transparency, efficiency, and collaboration among stakeholders. Dan's work is transforming traditional supply chain models, making them more responsive to the needs of modern businesses and consumers alike. Known for his innovative approach to integrating technology with supply chain management. His insights are helping companies adapt to the evolving demands of the market, ensuring that they remain competitive and compliant in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

Carl Olivier is the co-founder and CEO of Sustained, which helps food manufacturers design more environmentally friendly products using data, science and technology.

Having started his journey in product and engineering in Cape Town, Carl moved to London in 2006 and forged a product-focused career at leading tech brands Skype, Microsoft and Twillo. Committed to driving the sustainability agenda and leaving things ‘better than how he found them’, Carl and the Sustained team are focused on highlighting the power of sustainable choice for consumers and businesses relating to environmental impact reduction through its advanced technology platform.

Julie is a Director at Siemens, specialising in delivering operational strategy and digital transformation in a sustainable approach for the F&B industry across retail, manufacturing, and consumer brands​. Julie has extensive experience championing transformational initiatives that deliver measurable business value while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and operational excellence.

Based out of Dublin, Amr has an academic background in Mechanical engineering; yet he has ventured to explore different roles and functions within an array of industries. He has an experience in heavy industries like Oil & Gas, Steel, Cement, Aluminium as well lighter industries like Automotives and F&B.

He was fortunate enough to wear different hats during his career in production engineering, Project management, Business development, Product marketing and he is now managing our Industrial processes offering.

David held a number of commercial roles in the food industry before joining Princes in 2007 as a senior sales manager, responsible for branded and own label food and drink business with a number of major UK retailers.

David moved to the Corporate Relations function in 2012 reflecting his personal interests in communications, media, government, and sustainability.

As Corporate Relations Director since 2017, he is responsible for external communications, corporate affairs, and corporate responsibility for the Princes Group around the world.

He represents Princes with multiple external stakeholders, including media, customers, trade bodies, government and NGOs and has publicly spoken at a number of events on topics relating to the Princes Group or its sustainability work.

Helen Flanagan is the product lead for EyeQ, Wincanton's digital transport control tower product. She joined Wincanton in 2023 and plays a key role in the strategic shift in the business to focus on transport services powered by digital technology. Helen brings a depth of experience in logistics operations, sales, solutions design and consulting and has enjoyed varied roles at DHL Supply Chain and Kuehne & Nagel.
