Dr. Grace Farhat

Dr. Grace Farhat is an expert in the role of nutrition, antioxidants, and bioactive components on health, particularly in the context of ageing. With a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics, an MSc in Human Nutrition, and a PhD focused on the effects of antioxidants on health markers in older adults, she brings a wealth of scientific knowledge to her research.

Her current work explores the impact of pomegranate extract, specifically Pomanox, on inflammatory markers, cardiometabolic health, and cognitive function in older adults. Dr. Farhat’s research provides compelling evidence for the efficacy of pomegranate as a natural intervention for improving health outcomes in ageing populations.

She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on the therapeutic effects of pomegranate, polyphenols, and antioxidants in managing chronic conditions such as obesity, inflammation, and cognitive decline. As both a UK Registered Nutritionist (Rnutr) and Registered Dietitian (RD), Dr. Farhat is well-versed in the practical applications of nutrition in addressing health challenges for older adults.

Prof. Eva Serna

Prof. Eva Serna is a renowned expert in molecular aging, with over two decades of research focused on cellular stress pathways, neurodegeneration, and the role of nutritional bioactives in longevity. She leads the MODULAhR research group at the University of Valencia, specializing in the modulation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR)—a transcription factor increasingly recognized as a key regulator of immune function, oxidative balance, and healthy ageing.

Her group has pioneered studies on how dietary compounds like pomegranate extract influence AhR signaling, with promising results in models of ageing-related inflammation, cognitive decline, and neuromuscular deterioration. Prof. Serna’s translational approach bridges molecular biology and nutritional interventions, offering new insights into how natural ingredients can counteract the hallmarks of ageing.
