Dr. Maryam MKhani is a registered professional engineer with 25 years of research, concept, technology and business development expertise in sustainable process technology at energy companies and energy-intensive industry, start-ups, and academia. She has diverse carbon capture experience both in Direct Air Capture and point source CO2 capture technology development, technology scouting, evaluation and implementation across multiple industrial sectors with both commercial and emerging/ leading-edge technologies. In her current role as Director at Worley, Maryam is working on technical and commercial aspects of CCUS portfolio to integrate innovative solutions across the value chain. She also holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor appointment at Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, where she contributes to teaching graduate courses such as CO2-capture – Science, Engineering and Society.

Mark Croman is a qualified lawyer with a Masters in IT & Telecommunications Law. He is an accredited mediator, qualified Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Leader and Prince 2 PM Practitioner with external certifications in Climate Change Transformation and various AI related topics including the EU AI Act and AI Governance.
Mark joined NWG in 2004 gaining banking, regulatory, operational, transformation and risk experience across several roles and business areas including Legal (Litigation, M&A & Secretariat), Retail & Wealth, Transformation, Comms, Marketing and Public Affairs, before joining NatWest Depositary Services as Chief Operations Officer in 2019.
In his present role, Mark is responsible for wide range of activities across the UK and Luxembourg depositary businesses including strategic direction and partnerships; budgets and investment cases; outsourcing; client onboarding and in-life changes; financial crime; product governance; and business continuity. Mark is a member of the NWG Gender Network’s Allied Men committee and an active MentorHer coach.

Rajan Nagina is the driving force behind Newgen Software’s AI platforms. He combines
his passion for product development with his expertise in cultivating high-performing
teams and a knack for riding on major tech waves of AI/ML/GenAI. With an MBA from
the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and a Bachelor of Technology in
Computer Science from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (I.E.T.) Lucknow,
Rajan approaches problem-solving from a multidisciplinary viewpoint.
Rajan is known for his avid reading habits and his ability to weave compelling narratives,
both in his storytelling and in articulating the vision for his products. At Newgen, he has
been pivotal in developing and spinning off Newgen’s Data Science Platform into LumYn
for the Banking and Financial Services vertical, a suite of solutions designed to harness
the power of artificial intelligence to drive digital transformation. His strategic vision and
technical expertise have significantly contributed to innovative applications in machine
learning, GenAI, and data analytics.
In addition to his technical prowess, Rajan is a thought leader in the AI space, frequently
sharing insights through thought leadership articles and industry conferences. His ability
to anticipate and leverage technological advancements has positioned Newgen at the
forefront of AI-driven innovation. Rajan’s dedication to fostering a culture of continuous
learning and experimentation within his teams has not only resulted in cutting-edge

Des O’Connor
Des is the UK GenAI Pursuit and Strategy Lead at Dell Technologies. During his time at Dell, Des focused on Cyber Resilience and MultiCloud across Finance, Media and Telecoms and Oil and Gas.
Prior to joining Dell Technologies, Des was a Management Consultant and has experience in Go to Market Strategy Development, Transformational Change as well as Project and Programme Management. He is excited about emerging technologies and co-creating new solutions, enhancing human progress.
Outside of work Des is a keen runner, cook and enjoys travelling the world and learning about new cultures

Jochen Papenbrock
Jochen is Head of Financial Technology EMEA / Lead Developer Relations Manager Banking Global at NVIDIA, the globally leading accelerated computing platform company. He has spent the last 25 years in various roles on the topic of AI in financial services. He works with executives, data scientists, developers, and partners in the global NVIDIA ecosystem. Jochen is a financial data scientist and received his degree and Ph.D. from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Before NVIDIA he worked as a consultant, entrepreneur, and researcher with asset managers, banks, insurance companies, and central banks.
