Helen Yeardley is Global Clinical Operations Head at ICON. In this role, she oversees the timely and quality delivery of a team of approximately 4,000 staff in areas including clinical and hub monitoring, clinical risk management and trial master file services. With over 25 years’ experience in monitoring and managing clinical trials, in both CROs and large pharma companies, Helen has held numerous senior positions in the areas of feasibility, site identification and start-up, clinical trial management and project management. She started her career as a CRA, and her therapeutic background is oncology as well as internal medicine.
Helen is also actively involved in ICON’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging operations, with a particular focus on the company’s Disability Awareness Network, DAWN. DAWN is one of ICON’s community groups and is focused on developing and fostering a mind-set towards creating an inclusive workplace and working environment where everyone is treated equally with respect and dignity, irrespective of any visible or hidden disabilities.
Brittany Maley has more than 16 years of experience in customer service, instructional design, and research, working in the pharmaceutical industry for the last seven years. Along with her experience in gathering insights to enhance recruitment and retention, she uses her degrees in education and educational technology, and instructional design to bring the patient voice to clinical trials using creative and innovative methods.
Steve Brandao has spent more than 30 years in research and development. His experience includes time with a major pharmaceutical company, work with two leading SMO’s, and business development positions with large global CRO’s, a medical device CRO, and an EDC technology company. He is currently the US Regional Director of Business Development for Novotech, an Asia-Pacific centered CRO with global capabilities. Steve has a graduate degree in psychology and worked as a psychotherapist before starting his career in biopharma research and development.
As General Manager for eConsent, Andrew Mackinnon oversees the development of the eConsent product, as well as the implementation of eConsent in Medable studies, ensuring that Medable’s clients can run high quality, effective and efficient decentralized clinical trials. Andrew has 20 years of experience in managing clinical trials at large Pharma, Biotech and CRO companies, most recently as a Senior Director in one of Covance’s therapeutic area delivery groups and as Head of Business Performance. From his involvement in one of the earliest deployments of decentralized methodologies, he has been passionate about the benefits that this approach can bring in reducing the burden of clinical research on both sites and patients and looks to leverage his broad operational expertise to improve how this approach is utilized.
Highly experienced project manager with specialization in clinical operations and logistics. Over 10 years of experience managing industry-sponsored clinical trials in Biotech, CRO, and academic settings.
Serpil Tutan is a Director of Clinical Research at the Research Resources Office, Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. She has more than 24 years of nursing and clinical research experience. Some of her current responsibilities include, protocol development, feasibility reviews, budget negotiations, and direct oversight of the clinical trial finance, regulatory and QA/QC teams. She had successfully completed institutional launch of the Clinical Trial Management System, financial module at Texas Children’s Hospital. One of her passions is protocol development and project management for all aspects of investigator initiated and/or rare disease trials.
Joaquim is currently the COO of ABAKA. He carries over 21 years of experience in Operations and Consulting in Financial Services, within the UK and Europe in notable institutions such as BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, and Accenture. He has a successful track record of driving operational improvements and efficiencies, with a specialty in advising clientele on their digital transformation needs. Joaquim is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique.
