Richard A Bates
Rich has more than 20 years of experience in Data, Analytics and CRM. He has spent the vast majority of that time in HSBC. In his current role he is business lead for the Data and Messaging Value Stream in the Wealth and Personal banking business line (WPB). This means he is responsible for all data, analytics and CRM (messaging) platforms across the wealth and retail bank globally. Over the last few years he has led the move of the data platform to the cloud and is now running a unit which delivers over 100 data services to 9 geographies. Some of these services use ML techniques for the benefit of HSBC customers and the business. On the CRM side, the team use ML to make decisions and apply it to more than 30M customers in 15 different markets. Richard has experience of hands on analytics having previously ran the Commercial Banking analytics team for the UK bank and in his last role he built and scaled a significant CRM programme which delivered north of 100M of benefits and is still going strong today. Richard has a track record of delivering outcomes, with a specific expertise in data and analytics/machine learning. He runs a direct team of circa 40 people who in turn lead a team of approximately 300+ data engineers. He holds a bachelor degree in business studies and professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Direct Marketing. He spends most of his spare time either traveling, with his family or on one of his bikes as he’s an active ride leader in a local cycling club.
Nisha Trivedi
Nisha is a patient advocate for the rare genetic skin disorder Epidermolysis Bullosa. She also has participated in two clinical trials. Through The EveryLife Foundation’s Rare Disease Week and Rare Across America events, along with other organizations’ advocacy events, she has shared her story with members of Congress to encourage them to support policies that benefit rare disease patients. She represents EB Research Partnership on ELF’s Community Congress and sits on ELF’s Rare Disease Legislative Advocates Advisory committee. Previously, she served on the board of directors of The Shanti Project, a San Francisco–based nonprofit that enhances the well-being and quality of life of people facing serious illnesses or isolation.
Nisha lives in South San Francisco and works at mbaMission, a leading MBA admissions consulting firm, guiding applicants to top business schools in the U.S. and abroad in building their personal brands by identifying and showcasing the strongest aspects of their candidacy in their applications. She is also a certified business etiquette trainer who coaches organizations on positive professional behaviors, and authored the LinkedIn Learning course “Business Etiquette for the Modern Workplace”. Nisha holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and BA in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
ABIE EKANGAKI
Abie Ekangaki is responsible for bringing expertise in biostatistics to shape clinical trial design strategies and methodologies for regulatory submissions and otherwise and provides broad biostatistical consulting for both internal and external clients. He advises on efficient trial designs for clinical trial programs and applies his statistical expertise, drug development, and operational experience across different therapeutic areas. With more than 25 years of experience as a biostatistician, Dr. Ekangaki has worked as a research scientist with the World Health Organization in Switzerland, as a statistics lecturer at Macquarie University in Australia, and has over 19 years in the pharmaceutical industry in both large pharma and CROs, where he has held several lead technical and senior leadership positions.

Paul van Meurs, MD, is currently the Director of Medical & Scientific Affairs, Oncology and is responsible for the oversight of Clario’s medical imaging and specialty solutions. Dr. Muers is a qualified MD with more than 20 years of experience in clinical development within the pharmaceutical industry. He has previous experience at BiOrion as their Chief Business Officer as well as Keosys Medical Imaging and Julius Clinical where he was responsible for business development activities. He is also the editor of the Dutch Textbook of Pharmaceutical Medicine (Published 2014).
